Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a marriage licence?

Yes. Obtain a valid New Brunswick marriage licence before your ceremony and bring it with you. For November 28, you must have the licence before your reserved appointment.

Do we need witnesses?

Two witnesses aged 19 or older are required. At our November event, you may bring your own or we can provide two. For private ceremonies, you arrange your witnesses.

Where do we obtain a marriage licence?

Marriage licences are available through Service New Brunswick. The Fredericton service centre is at Brookside Mall, 435 Brookside Drive. Confirm current details with Service New Brunswick.

Can we bring family and friends?

Absolutely. You may invite a few family members or friends to our November event. Please let us know when booking if you plan to bring guests.

How much does a marriage licence cost?

The New Brunswick marriage licence fee is $115, separate from the officiating fee. Check Service New Brunswick for current fees.

Can we write our own vows?

Yes. Personal vows are welcome but optional. A simple civil ceremony is perfectly fine, too.

How long is a marriage licence valid?

A New Brunswick marriage licence is valid for three months and there is no waiting period after it is issued. Make sure yours is valid on your ceremony date.

What happens after the ceremony?

We complete and submit the required marriage registration paperwork. You can order an official marriage certificate separately after the marriage has been registered.
